The 3 Business "Strategies" Projectors Need to Stop Listening to Now
When I started my business I had one major “rule”… that my Human Design type (Projector) would be fully integrated into my business. Not just a little bit, not partially — fully. I had just spent 3 years living monastically on organic farms and felt at least halfway cleansed of my Projector PTSD from college, internships, side jobs, volunteering, a professional marketing job, and the 300 other things I decided to cram on my plate to test, one last time if immense over-extending and productivity would somehow amount to a drop of feeling good (nope).
Little did I know at the time, this was a radical singular rule to instate…
…To be a Projector in the entrepreneurial world is terribly confusing and if you’re not careful, it can be no different from the 9-5 you left in the hopes of getting paid to take naps. Pretty much everything we’re fed about what we should be doing comes from the mouths of Generators and Manifesting Generator (70% of the population) who, let’s face it — are literal machines (love you guys). While us Projectors are more like multi-dimensional spiders: patient, present, feminine, intuitive, and designed to build a highly effective magnetic web (energetic field) around us that does 90% of the work for us so that we can then sit back, take naps, get massages, stare at people, make people uncomfortable, and live our best Projector lives.
Additionally, there are very few examples of Projectors who are doing well and honoring their design in business.
“Doing well and honoring their design” excludes those who…
… Are receiving outside support or income from a job that isn’t their business (ain’t nothing wrong with this, baby)
… Are making a fair amount of money but are extremely exhausted or burnt out
… Are gleefully pumping away at Tony Robbins-esque business tactics while concomitantly dying on the inside and wondering, “Is this really the only way?”
So, what’s a Projector to do?
The majority of a Projector’s (and everyone else's) “work” lives behind the scenes, in their auric field or frequency.
Thus, their natural magnetism is derived from how willing they are to voyage into the seas of the body, the unconscious, and the conscious minds to integrate and get right with all of themselves. “Magnetism” from an Instagram page with varying tan color tones, lots of cacti, and slyly placed spiritual objects can only get you so far. It’s the pulse of your frequency that is actually calling the shots.
A caveat: to me, nothing in business is truly black and white. My journey of running a Projector-friendly business has shown me that business, like reality, is best when it’s non-dual. In the sense that we obviously must play around in opposition in contrast by deciding or figuring out what works for us… but you eventually find that it all merges into one mushy pot where nothing is right or wrong. The opposition of “here’s what works” and “here’s what doesn’t” dissolves and alchemizes into — you can do anything you desire and have it work, as long as all of yourSelf is on board.
Then, how willing are you to show up for the organic processes and initiations of getting all of yourself behind said desires? All of yourself including but not limited to the reservoirs of false aspects who might prefer to believe things in direct opposition to your desires like exhaustion is normal, the struggle is necessary, money is hard, and sales are gross. *Sigh.*
So, if you’re a Projector and everything on this list feels totally awesome to you then keep on with your bad self.
These are three pieces of business advice that I have observed both myself and many Projector clients consistently struggling with.
1. Showing Up Consistently Online is Key
Hmmmm… if consistency is key then why are all non-sacrals designed to be inconsistent?
…If consistency is key then why do plants die in the Fall then take a three-month slumber during the Winter?
…If we’re microcosms of the Earth than who in their right mind decided that in order to succeed we needed to live in permanent Spring and Summer (consistency)?
Well, for starters, it’s a deep-rooted collective belief system that probably drips down from a time when our ancestors had to work literally all of the time in order to survive. Somehow along the way this imprint of brutally hard work translated into the hustle, grind, and consistency culture. There are still plenty of folks walking the planet who lived through the depression and intimately remember a time when boiled potatoes for dinner was a luxury.
Alas, this stuff runs very deep. And, we are powerful little creator-beings who can create a reality where none of these painful aspects are necessary. Oftentimes by first making them necessary so we can bump up against them and decide we’d rather not this time around (contrast — it’s why we came here).
In the entrepreneurial space, we’re often told that consistency builds and garners trust from your community. They know you’re always going to show up with some sort of lesson, life update, or inspirational quote and thus they begin to see you as someone whom they can rely on and trust.
I definitely see the immense value and logic in this. It’s similar to getting mail. The mailman comes every day and because of his immaculate consistency, you trust the mailman to bring you your mail.
Now the question that arises in the online space is — would I suddenly not trust someone if they decided to... post less, take a social media fast, pour more energy and attention into a creative project, or, dare I say it — do away with social media altogether in order to do something awesome and permanent, like writing a book or having a family?
The answer is no.
As a Projector, expecting myself to be consistent online 100% of the time is futile and I, therefore, know there are tons of other trustworthy people out there, like myself, who need breaks from sharing. Moreover, I’m continuously trusted by my community and all of my clients who happily pay me the big bucks, even though I am delightfully inconsistent online.
I believe that if I am consistent in showing up for mySelf and the spiritual practice of being an integrated embodied Divine Human, then that will always feed into and magnify my frequency — which is exactly what people feel when they unexplainably “just know" they want to work with me. Thus, I am consistent where it matters most to me. If showing up for my practice one week means consistently sharing, then I will do that. If the next two weeks it means not opening social media to focus on a creative project or rest and eat ice cream, then I will also do that.
In essence, consistency-online only matters as much as you believe it does — and your consistency or lack thereof will attract an audience who feels similar.
2. Teach Models and Methods That Work(ed) for You
The most “logical” way to approach business as a teacher or guide of some sort would be to teach or share about what works for you, right?
If you look around, many programs are just methods and models that allowed the person who created them to get or receive X.
And for a large part of the population, this is exactly how they’re designed to teach. Generators and MG’s are designed to get so excited about whatever it is they’re passionate about doing, and then use that excitement as fuel to share and teach about what’s working for them.
So when an MG creates a marketing program it’s going to be delivered through the lens of someone who is designed to market in an entirely different way than Projectors. Unless they understand the unique intricacies of each person and their lifestream, wherein they’ll know to be giving vastly different models and methods to the different types in the program.
Don’t get me wrong, Projectors can totally operate this way too. The issue is that the Projector aura is quite literally designed to get in front of one person at a time and see into, absorb, and penetrate their energy. So, whatever you’re “doing” or “teaching” is completely contingent on a deep level of presence, the person in front of you, and the third energy you co-create together. Projectors are masters at guiding towards whatever needs to be done. You say you want help with this; we know you actually need to look at that. Because in the realm of energetics this and that are intrinsically connected.
What I mean by this is you could be a Projector who has signed a client whom you are going to coach around business. And because of the way your energy works, you are able to feel that the most important (and oftentimes uncomfortable) direction to move in, seemingly has nothing to do with what they wanted coaching on. This person could be hungry for “your model” of doing things but you know that your model isn’t going to work for them the way it works for you because, again, you are feeling the totality of their energy, through multiple dimensions, bursting with intricacies.
So, you end up taking a multidimensional non-sensical journey into the heart of their inner/ outer realities to remember and integrate the person who inexplicably knows that they are the Divine Director of their reality and what works for them and — consequently no longer needs to look outside of themselves for “the best method to X.”
At first, they are confused by your irrational less-presentable ways and then eventually realize that the sight and depth they receive from you and who they are able to become or remember, because of that, is incomparable to what X said about how to get X.
Abracadabra.
3. Have a Platter or Stairway of Open Offerings
Projector energy is mainly singular-focused. We work best focusing on one person at a time. And in business, I've found that it’s no different; we work best when we focus on one project at a time. This doesn’t mean that you can’t be creating and/or running multiple offerings at once. I’ve done it and really enjoyed it. However, I was careful that the offerings were all things I was genuinely excited to have my attention on and were well within my energetic bandwidth to hold. I sacrificed other aspects of my life (naps) during that time in order to show up fully for multiple containers.
However, what I’ve found is that the widespread model of private clients, masterminds, group programs, workshops, events, and daily posts, videos, and lives all at the same time is a Projector’s worst nightmare.
We are not designed to have our energy in that many places at once and still feel grounded, clear, and present.
Imagine the defined Sacral center as a gas tank that is consistently replenishing itself (if it’s excited about where it’s driving). The only time you really need to put gas in the car is at the end of the day.
Now, imagine the undefined Sacral center as a gas tank that starts every day at 35% percent full. Where do you want to put that percentage of gas? If your true answer is… in private clients, a mastermind, two courses, and consistent social media posts and videos… then shine on.
I know that for me, and all of my Projector clients, the answer is more like, “…into these 1-2 areas of my business and then… naps, nature, walks, and baths.”
So, the question is, do you believe that it’s possible to be fully supported and nourished by 1-2 areas of your business? Or has something infiltrated your belief systems to where the prior sentence sounds completely unrealistic?
Again, if you believe that’s the only way to succeed, then in your reality, that is the only way to succeed.
Along the way, I’ve integrated my “ Divine laziness” (or, what’s called, being a Projector) and 100% believe and expect that 1-2 areas of my business should, can, and will fully support me.
Other business strategies Projectors should definitely stop caring about are included but not limited to: niches, branding, ideal client visualizations, articulating what you do succinctly and neatly wrapped with a bow, making sure your energy is always “high-vibe,” forcing yourself on people, reaching out to people to try and get them to work with you, only taking business advice from people who have Sacrals…
…but that’s all for another time.
In Conclusion
If you’re a Projector entrepreneur or on the pathway to becoming one, I wish you a rich journey and all of the naps in the world.
The Projector entrepreneurial journey is not the most straight-forward one but it is an immensely worthy adventure that will stretch and work every facet of your being — physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
Human Design tells us that, “Non-sacral beings are here to become wise about work…” In HD lingo - becoming wise - is basically code for, get ready to be thrown into an initiatory fast-track that will relentlessly ask you to stretch, grow, and transform every aspect of your being that isn’t ready to become truly sovereign.
So, rest easy, Projector friend. You are one of the torch-bearers forging a new path of what it means to be a Projector and practice business – all at the same time.
